Iran nuclear chief hails advancement in quantum tech

Tehran, IRNA – The head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) said that the country’s advancement in quantum technology in the last five years is valuable and praiseworthy and suggests a bright future in this area.

In a meeting on Saturday attended by AEOI chief Ali-Akbar Salehi and head of Nuclear Science and Technology Research Institute (NSTRI) Javad Karimi-Sabet, executives of institutes working on quantum technology gave a report on their achievements in the area.

Emphasizing that quantum technologies expansion would be supported, he noted that a lack of required infrastructure didn’t prevent Iranian researchers from advancing in this field, as they have gained great achievements.

He proposed to sponsor publication of a specialized international magazine in English Language to reflect current activities in Iran on quantum technologies.

Elsewhere in the meeting, Karimi-Sabet criticized the lack of interaction among universities on quantum technologies, which, according to him, arises from the broader scientific interaction culture in Iran.

He said that the NSTRI, in line with its goal to aggregate all potentials throughout the country, has established two centers in Sharif University of Technology,University of Tehran, and the Iranian Center for Quantum Technologies.
